Job Summary:
The Assistant in Training (AIT)
position is for individuals with limited golf course experience looking to become
full-time turf management professionals. The AIT will work with Superintendent,
Lead Assistant and all full-time staff to help grow and learn all essential
skills required to work on a golf course while creating a path for advancement
within our organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Work hand-in-hand with the Superintendent and Lead
Assistant to develop and implement agronomic programs.
• Assist in all aspects of golf course mowing.
• Safely participate in fertilizer and chemical
applications. Learn to calibrate both fertilizer spreaders and sprayers.
Assist in maintaining proper record-keeping and inventory levels while
producing monthly usage reports.
• Water resource management; learn hand-watering,
irrigation troubleshooting, and repair fundamentals.
• Technology; EZ Pins hole location management software,
Playbooks pesticide record keeping. Toro GPS Sprayer technology.
• Involved in the daily course setup and inspection.
• Assist in tree management practices, i.e., removals,
pruning.
• Access to continuing education and dues for local and
national associations.
• Ensure equipment is cleaned and stored correctly.
Requirements
• 1-3 years experience working on a golf course
or landscape-type position
• Excellent verbal communication
• Valid Driver’s License
